The IEEE Communications Society is proud to launch IEEE MeditCom, a NEW annual conference for the Mediterranean region!

The inaugural IEEE International Mediterranean Conference on Communications and Networking (MeditCom) will take place 7-10 September 2021 in Athens, Greece. 

IEEE MeditCom will bring together visionaries in academia, research labs and industry from all over the world to the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, with programming that will address many of the outstanding challenges that exist in the areas of communications and networking. The conference will solicit research papers on a wide range of research topics, spanning both theoretical and systems research along with vertical technologies. Known as the “cradle of Western civilization”, IEEE MeditCom participants will also have an opportunity to explore this exciting and dynamic region with its rich history and beauty.

IEEE Communications Society aims at engaging local IEEE Sections, ComSoc Chapters, and possibly Sister Societies, from all Mediterranean region, including Spain, France, Monaco, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Greece, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Malta, and Cyprus.

COVID-19 Update / Hybrid Conference Format

***UPDATE***

According to the new Government directives which were issued and are valid from today 6/9/2021 until 13/9/2021, all meeting participants must have a Covid-19 vaccination certificate or a proof of recovery from Covid-19.

All other participants must attend the meeting virtually (through live-streaming).

Due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting travel restrictions, the conference will be in the form of a hybrid conference with some authors and participants attending the conference in Athens in person, and others attending remotely. The technical program will include physical sessions with on-site presentations and virtual (on-line) sessions for remote participants. According to the latest Governmental guidelines, the basic prerequisites for meetings are the following:

  • For the attendees who will be physically in the meeting room, it is obligatory to present a valid vaccination certificate or valid proof of recovery from COVID-19 prior to attending the meeting. Alternatively, they can present a valid PCR test (72 hrs) or valid Rapid test (48 hrs) upon their arrival to the meeting room.
  • Mask wearing is compulsory inside the meeting room and in all public spaces of the hotel.
  • Food provision is prohibited inside the meeting room.
